It’s true guys, it has been confirmed that Nina Dobrev is in fact leaving the Vampire Diaries (I know *bawls eyes out*). The show has been on the air for six seasons, and according to CNN News Nina had said herself that she has planned to spend no longer than 6 years on this adventure. She’s ready to move on career wise, even if it means leaving Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce behind.

 

Alot of people thought that she wanted to leave the show because she can't stand seeing ex boyfriend (and costar/ love interest) Ian Somerhalder with his new fiancée Nikki Reed. Nikki has been photographed on the set of the show as she likes to visit Ian at work. Although I wouldn't blame Nina Dobrev if that was the reason she was leaving (because who would want to see their ex with a new person) that is not the case with her. According to CNN News she is actually leaving because she’s ready to start a new chapter in her life. She started filming the show at the age of 20 and now at the age of 26 Nina is ready to further her acting career.

 

On a more serious note how in the world is TVD going to go on without the main star of the show, Elena Gilbert! Not only is Nina Dobrev leaving but so is Steven McQueen who plays Jeremy Gilbert, Elena's little brother. Fans can’t wait to see how the show is going to end this season! Killing off Nina’s character is going to be interesting to see as there are many ways they can go with this. Although I love the show I think that the show should end since the main character is leaving. Let's be honest the last two seasons weren't that great, and now that the main character is leaving I’m not sure how the writers are going to successfully pull of a 7th season.

 

I really do hope that I’m wrong and season 7 ends up putting seasons 5 and 6 to shame (I've had it with seeing Elena’s dramatic back and forth between Stefan and Damon!).
